🐎 Kenwood Head Unit Not Turning On

T6 Legend. 15 Nov 2020. #1. So I've just attempted to update my Kenwood DNX9190 firmware. I have done this successfully previously when I first installed the unit. This time the update starts as expected but then tells me the USB connection has been lost and to re-insert the USB. I pull the USB out and re-insert. Loving my 2006 Corvette Z06, but I have been having issues with the aftermarket Kenwood touch panel radio unit. When I park the car for a day or so, then I get back into it and fire up the car, I cannot get the aftermarket head unit to turn back on, it will eject a cd but the screen and sound, nothing works, so I literally have to remove the negative battery lead and reattach for the radio to Head unit volume knob not working properly. I have had the Kenwood KDC-MP145 for a few years now and the volume knob sporadically does not work I turn it any which way and does not adjust volume. Sometimes if I click some of the buttons or something it ends up working. Other times it works fine without a problem. The head unit i believe is rated at 4 ohm for the built in amp for 22 watts of rms power with peaks of I believe 50. I was thinking perhaps the power being supplied through the built in head unit amp might actually be lower than that of the minimum power required for the speakers. Thus possibly damaging the head unit and the speakers. I hooked up my old spare kenwood which uses the same connector and it works 100%. I've searched google and found if a kenwood is flashing the word "Protect" it means either a speaker is shorted, or there is an internal short inside the head stereoaz : it sounds like it has a software issue and needs to go back to a Kenwood Service Center or ?? it has low voltage or a bad ground to the unit. to confirm you would need a dc voltmeter, put the ground lead to the metal chassis of the unit and the Red or hot lead to first ,the Kenwoods red wire and then yellow,it should have over 12 volts dc on both the red and yellow wires with the General features: digital multimedia player with AM/FM tuner. plays media loaded with MP3, WMA, and AAC music files (plus high-res WAV and FLAC) 6.75" capacitive touchscreen display. I have a Kenwood DNN992 that after owning it for a year, when I turn it on, It won't go past the initial Kenwood splash screen. I took out the head unit and disconnected the ground cable and re-connec … read more .
